Obituary for Michael Ervin Fletcher

Mr. Michael Ervin Fletcher, age 63, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Thursday (March 24, 2022) at his home. Born June 4, 1958 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Ervin and Mary Ellen Rowe Fletcher. He was a 1976 graduate of Garden High School and was a dedicated member of Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church. He had formerly been employed as a coal miner and had retired as a correctional officer from Keen Mountain Correctional Center after twenty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR races, and working with the youth football little league program. A genuine people person, he loved his community, church and family and always had a desire to ensure that other people’s needs were met.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Velma Fletcher.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Tina Fletcher of the home; one son, Joseph Michael Fletcher and wife, Ali of Rowe; one brother, Eddie Fletcher and wife, Connie of Rowe; one sister, Donna Fletcher Ward of Abingdon; father-in-law, Gordon Hale; mother-in-law, Merle Hale; special cousins, Janie Fleming, Kate McClanahan, Sandy Shortridge, Joyce Justice, and Polly Gardner; canine son, Goober; many special prayer warriors who made a lifelong impact on his life; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kabaria, Dr. Jawad, Family Drug, and Legacy Hospice for the love and wonderful care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday in the Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Brad Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowe Family Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be David Lee, Eugene Whited, Dale Blankenship, Chris Hughes, Roger Davis, Kenny Helton, Ralph Cole, and Brian Crum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Scott, Ervin Dale, Gilmer Wade, and Kenny Coleman.
The family will receive friends at Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church after 5:30 PM Saturday, where an evening service and time for sharing memories will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
It is requested that a mask be worn by those in attendance.
