Obituary for Michael Ray Hale

Mr. Michael R. Hale, age 69, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (February 11, 2020) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born November 8, 1950 in Keystone, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Bernard Stuart and Ruby Catherine Dye. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the UMWA District 17, Local 6025. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Word of Victory Ministries at Elk Garden, Virginia, where he helped with the church’s food pantry. He was never ashamed to proclaim the Gospel to others and he was faithful to share the love of Jesus Christ with those at the Appalachian Detention Center and Southwest Regional Jail. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family and his pets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Ann Hale; two sisters, Joyce Dye and Janet O’Hara; and one brother, Danny Hale.
Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Evelyn Ruth Hale of the home; one daughter, Shelley Peck and husband, Tim of Honaker; one grandson, Brandon Peck and wife, Kelli of Johnson City, Tennessee; one sister, Kathy Smith and husband, Andrew of Cleveland; three brothers, Roger Hale and wife, Lisa of Richlands, Jerry Hale and wife, Sandy of Swords Creek, and Jeff Hale of Abingdon; sister-in-law, Lisa Boulden and husband, Roger of Bristol; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Revs. Rod and Sharon Wicker officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Word of Victory Church.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday.
