Mrs. Nellie Mae Lang, age 89, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (September 25, 2022) at her home. Born September 3, 1933 in Council, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John and Goldie Stevens Yates. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Holiness faith. She enjoyed working word puzzles, watching the “Andy Griffith Show”, and playing Rummy, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Lang, one son, Ricky Lang, and two brothers, Arkie Yates and Don Yates.
Survivors include three daughters, Reona Lane of Honaker, Shirley Justice and husband, Don of Oakwood, and Wyona Sheppard and husband, Otis of Honaker; one brother, Henry Yates of Gray, Tennessee; grandchildren, Candia Sellars, Becky Ball, Beth Ramey, Samantha Hess, Tabitha Brabson, Melissa Munn, Adam Brabson, Michael Brabson, Laura Sheppard, Otis Sheppard, Jr., and Jennifer Coleman; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Laine, Hannah Ramey, Autumn Munn, Karma Brabson, Alexis Goodson, Ashley Sellars, Angela Sheppard, Destany Sellars, Gavin Brabson, Jeremy Brabson, Brian Cordell, Christian Brabson, Cody Brabson, Thomas Ball, Matthew Ball, Joshua Ball, Lucas Ball, Blake Sheppard, Travis Sheppard, Kevin Sheppard, and Dusty Sheppard; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Edward Tiller officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery at Drill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Cotton Street, Herman Street, B.J. Street, Phillip Ward, Don Justice, Chris Hays, Dwayne Moats, and Cody Brabson.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday.
