Mrs. Ollie Kiser, age 100, of Bee, Virginia, passed away Monday (December 27, 2021) in Abingdon, Virginia. Born April 10, 1921 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Gertie Ball Murphy. She had spent most of her life in the Clinchco, Virginia area and enjoyed sewing and making quilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddie Kiser, two sons, Connor Stevens and Chalmer Stevens, two brothers, James Murphy and Sammy Murphy, sister, Norma Stevens, grandsons, Randy Barton, Robert Barton, and Wesley Barton, and great-grandson, Christopher Gilbert. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include three daughters, Gertrude Barton of Bee, Phyllis Jean Duncan and husband, W.H. of Weber City, and Audrey Robinson and husband, Sandy of Abingdon; three sons, Jimmy Stevens and wife, Sarah, and Lonnie Stevens all of Bristol, and George Kiser of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Louise Stevens; sister-in-law, Virginia Lois Murphy; special great-granddaughter, Lora Presley; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday at Stevens Cemetery in Ivy Valley section of Scott County, Virginia with grandson, Rev. Anthony Yul Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
