Obituary for Pearlie "Nannie" Ramsey (Owens)

Pearlie V. “Nannie” Ramsey, age 88, of Rosedale, Virginia, passed away Friday (February 4, 2022) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born August 15, 1933 in Dickenson County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Donald Douglas and Nora Belle Rasnake Owens. A lifelong resident of the area, she had attended Garden High School. She was a member of Duty View Primitive Baptist Church and her greatest joy came from going to church and serving the Lord. For many years, she had worked as a seamstress for Eastern Isles and Jacqueline Manufacturing. She had been most recently employed by Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens and had served on the board for Clinch Valley Community Action. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping. She never met a stranger and had a great love for people; she had a special way of making everyone she met feel like family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Ramsey; her special companion of forty-seven years, Dallas Crabtree; one son, Jerry “Heck” Ramsey; sister, Sharon Fontell Owens Sexton and husband, David and an infant brother, Carson Owens.
Survivors include two children, Mike Cole and wife, Carol and Donna Mullins and companion, Hank Matney all of Abingdon, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Sandy Ramsey of Oakwood, Virginia; six grandchildren, Sean Brennan and wife, Laura, Bridget Michelle Ramsey, Dusty Mullins and wife, Tina, Sherri Ramsey and companion, Britain and Douglas Ramsey and companion, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Danielle Click, Alexis Ramsey, Sierra Mullins, Peyton Mullins and Tamen Laney; one brother, Wilkie Owens and wife, Ruby; several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends, church family and classmates.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Tuesday at Duty View Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Garnell Gilbert and Billy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sutherland Cemetery at Bee, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jess Powers, Tim Fields, Mike Hillman, Randall Hillman, Chuck Ratliff and James Kern.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Mullins, Doug Ramsey, Peyton Mullins, Tamen Laney, Sean Brennan, Oakley Woods and Garden High School Classmates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Clinch Valley Community Action or Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends after 5 PM Monday at Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Elders Eddie Joe Stephens, Brian Moore and Shawn Dotson officiating.
