Mrs. Peggy Jean Dales Jackson, age 74, of the Big Fox section of Vansant, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at her home with her family. Born July 5, 1948 in the Little Prater section of Vansant, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Clarence and Flossie Deel Dales. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Bee Pentecostal Church of God. She enjoyed shopping, scrapbooking, crafting, and fishing, but most of all spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Mavis Shortridge, Irene Thacker, Judy Lanter and her husband, Coon, Eva Lou Owens and her husband, Dock, Evie Dales, and Helen Louise Dales; five brothers, MacArthur Dales, Jessie Clarence “J.C.” Dales, Willard Dales, Frank Dales, and Ronnie Dales; and two nephews, Keith Dales and Carter Owens.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Walter “Pooh” Jackson of the home; one son, Christopher Dale Jackson and wife, Kimberly of Buchanan, Virginia; one daughter, Regina Gail Meade and husband, Jeffery of Lebanon; two sisters, Alice Dales and Ruth Owens; two granddaughters, Samantha Dale Day and husband, Caleb and Zoey Jackson; step-granddaughter, Megan Wilson and husband, Doug; step-great-grandsons, Trenton Hubbard and Chandler Cole Wilson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Brandon Cassell, and Rev. Edward Tiller officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Street, Marty Street, Jerry Owens, Tony Owens, Kris Turner, and Terry Childress.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Bee Pentecostal Church of God.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home.
