Obituary for Phyllis Gay Bostic (Rasnake)

Phyllis Gay Rasnake Bostic, age 77, of the Frying Pan section of Bee, Virginia, passed away Thursday (April 8, 2021) in a Grundy, Virginia hospital. Born May 13, 1943 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Abraham Holland and Maudie Mae Street Rasnake. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1961 graduate of Haysi High School and had been employed at several area sewing factories. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting and quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Bostic; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Lyall; one granddaughter, Cassie Elizabeth Wallace; eight siblings, Garmon Rasnake, Sydney Carroll Rasnake, Bernard Rasnake, Sarah Ann Branham, Clara Juanita Miller, Mary Rasnake, Imogene Taylor and Eugene Rasnake.
Survivors include two daughters, Jama Sue Bostic and companion, Ronnie O’Quinn of Bee, Virginia and Toni Leigh Austin of Council, Virginia; son-in-law, Tommy Lyall of Birchleaf, Virginia; grandchildren, Brandon Scott Wallace and wife, Brittany of Newport News, Virginia, Timothy Blake Wallace of Tampa, Florida, Allison Nichole Austin and Matthew Ryan Austin both of Council, Virginia; step-grandson, Trenton Lyall and wife, Jess of Oklahoma; one brother, Stephen Lloyd Rasnake of Honaker, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie O’Quinn, Terry Austin, Brandon Wallace, Blake Wallace, Matthew Austin, Tommy Lyall and Luke Rasnake.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rescue 33 Ambulance Service and Jamie Harris.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at Honaker Funeral Home where an evening song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required.
