Randy Lee “Digger” Dye, Sr., age 63, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Monday (April 25, 2022) at his home. Born January 11, 1959 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Donald Lee and Mary Magdalene Breedlove Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, had been employed as a coal miner. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Brad J. Dye; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Minnie Breedlove; father-in-law, Elmer Jack Deel.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Barb Dye of the home; two children, Randy Lee “Joey” Dye, Jr. and wife, Sherry and Kim Honaker and husband, Dennis both of Honaker, Virginia; four grandchildren, Haylee Dye, Jaxon Dye, Sommer Honaker and Kaden Honaker; siblings, Boone Dye and wife, Vicky, Delilah Breedlove, Donna Cyphers and Scottie Dye; mother-in-law, Laura Deel; several nieces and nephews and his fur baby, Dixie also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ellis Whited officiating. Interment will follow in the Deel Cemetery at Big A Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Jaxon Dye, Kaden Honaker, Luke Street, Mark Bostic, Doug Shortridge, Randy Street, Blake Hurt and Joe Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Harris, Gary Dye, Randy Forehand, Melena Mullins, Gary Sparks, Garland Miller and Terry Casey.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home from 1 PM until 2 PM Friday.
