Obituary for Rebecca Lynn Smith

Rebecca Lynn Smith, age 35, of Honaker, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday (March 15, 2020) at her home. Born March 5, 1985 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of Jerry and Colene Helton Smith of Honaker, Virginia. Rebecca was a very special young lady who never met a stranger. She always showed a special kindness and love to everyone she met and she had a desire to help people. She enjoyed travel, and always made a stop at Walmart along the way to her destination. She was a thrill seeker and loved riding roller coasters at her favorite theme parks, Hershey Park and Dollywood. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing cross stitch. She was a member of Freedom Chapel at Blackford, Virginia and above everything else, she enjoyed attending church and singing. The Lord gave her father a song entitled God Gave Me That Love, and although Jerry wrote it, Rebecca considered it “her song”. She left a very special mark on the lives of those she met and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, survivors include several aunts, uncles and cousins and a special sister-at-heart, Miranda Helton.
The family wants to extend a very special thank you to everyone who has helped with Rebecca’s care, especially Dr. Purow and the staff of UVA Medical Center the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Meadows and Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Sam Hess, Patrick Martin, John Brown, Allen Carter, Kirby Meadows and Bobby Alycie.
