Obituary for Rev. Arnold Ray Street

Rev. Arnold Ray Street, age 74, of the Raven Nest Branch section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday (May 17, 2023) at his home. Born July 18, 1948 at Garden Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late James Avery and Mary Catherine Shortt Street. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, he had spent his early life in Buchanan County, many years in Russell County and had made his home in Tazewell County for the past eighteen years. He had been a member of the Church of the Living God in Honaker, Virginia for over forty-eight years and served as Pastor for thirty-five years. He truly loved the Lord; attending church, preaching and praying were his passions. He had been employed as a coal miner for thirty-five years, having retired from Jewell Smokeless Coal Corp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Betty Ruth Street; two brothers, Harley B. Street and John L. Street; brothers-in-law, N.J. Garrison, Clyde Cole, Kenzie Justus and sisters-in-law, Delores Street and Maudie Street.
Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Rhonda Street of the home; sons, Gary Ray Street and wife, Donita and Stephen Dwayne Street and wife, Lesley both of Big A Mountain, Virginia and daughter, Serena Ann Street and special friend, Joe Gullion of Castlewood, Virginia; five grandchildren, Makenna Honaker, Bryson Wilson, Braylon Street, Canaan Street and Samuel Street; three sisters, Geneva Justus, Gracie Garrison and Anita Justus; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Street and wife, Alice and Curtis Street and wife, Tammy; sister-in-law, Sue Street; several nieces and nephews and his church family also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dannie Short officiating. Interment will follow in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Randy Street, Tim Street, Samuel Street, Larry Cole, Ronnie Justus and David Street.
Honorary pallbearers will be Canaan Street, Braylon Street, Bryson Wilson and Joe Gullion.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Friday at Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating.
