Obituary for Rev. Claude H. Rose

Rev. Claude H. Rose, a faithful servant of the Lord, went to be with Jesus and receive his great reward on Tuesday (March 3, 2020). Born on May 16, 1951 in Council, Virginia, he was a son of the late Melvin and Nancy Harris Rose. A 1969 graduate of Council High School, he gave his life to Jesus and started preaching the gospel at the age of 16. He has broadcasted the good Gospel near and far for fifty-three years claiming it to be his greatest joy. His desire was if you heard him preach the Word that you would hide it in your heart and give your heart to Jesus so we can all be united again. We believe to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert, Millard, and Homer Rose.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Barbara Lois Ball Rose of the home; one son, Anthony Rose and wife, Tammy of Council; one daughter, Karen Rose of Council; one grandson, Samuel Rose and wife, Josie of Big A Mountain; one great-grandson, Bentley Rose; one sister, Janis Combs and husband, Paul of Bluff City, Tennessee; one brother, Bob Rose and wife, Dorothy of Council; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Kirby Miller, Rev. Edward Tiller, and Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Claude Rose Family Cemetery near the home.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Rose, Stephen Combs, Landon Combs, Avery Rose, Bobby Rose, II, and Justin Rose.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kermit Lester, Rick Breeding, Clifford Breeding, Jim Hess, Paul Herndon, Kenny Compton, and all area ministers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Claude Rose Memorial Fund, Honaker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1620, Honaker, Virginia 24260, to help with expenses.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
