Obituary for Rev. Fairley Spencer

Rev. Fairley Wayne Spencer, age 72, of Hansonville, Virginia went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he had been preaching and singing about for over fifty years, on March 17, 2022. Born July 23, 1949 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Vergie Spencer Dye. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith and his heart’s desire was to see lost souls saved. He and his wife traveled many miles over the years playing music and singing for the Lord at various churches. He was a retired coal miner and was truly one of a kind. He loved his family whole heartedly. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sally and Denny Spencer; two sisters, infant, Teresa Dye and Rita Dye Batton; one brother, Stanley “Popeye” Dye.
Survivors include his childhood love and wife of fifty-three years, Della Mae Spencer; six children, Regina Honaker and husband, Tony of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Fairley Brian Spencer of Lebanon, Virginia, Carol Lynn Cordle of Lebanon, Virginia and Delmer Lee Spencer and wife, Misty Lee of Castlewood, Virginia, James Allen Nichols of Glade Springs, Virginia and Dakota Bryant Spencer of the home; three grandchildren, Alisha Marie Nichols, who was more like a daughter, Jacob Andrew Cordle and Tearstin Leenea Spencer; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Lonnie Gerald Dye, Ronnie Dye, Billy Dye, Russell Dye and wife, Wanda, Bernie Dye and wife, Cindy and one sister, Dolly Ball; several nieces and nephews and a host of church family also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Perkins and Rev. Gene Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess Cemetery at Miller Creek, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Dye, Gerald Dye, Russell Dye, Ronnie Dye, Billy Dye and Clifford Breeding.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Justus, Don Smith, Bill Crawford, Tommy Dye, Lee Dye, Cecil Dye and Doug Dye.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
