Obituary for Rev. Larry Wayne Dye

Rev. Larry Wayne Dye, age 68, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (January 19, 2021) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born February 3, 1952 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of J.C. and Louise Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a disabled coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of Perkins Chapel and loved serving the Lord and preaching his word for over forty-three years. A loving father and husband, he liked the squirrel hunt, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Wayne Dye, one sister, Wanda Dye, one brother, Harold Dye, best friend, Ronnie Leo Hess, mother-in-law, Ettie Hess, and niece, Audrey L. Rife.
Survivors include his wife of over forty-eight years and the love of his life, Mary Ann Dye of the home; one daughter and the “apple of his eye”, Teresa Ann Dye of the home; his father-in-law, Rev. Holland Hess of the home; two brothers, Jeff Dye and Susan and Stevie Dye; four sisters, Brenda Richardson, Sandy Hubbard and husband, Dean, Barbara Blankenship, and Linda Wilson; sister-in-law, Linda Jean Dye; special nieces and nephews, Chasity Ball, Charity Ball, Christian Ball, Cindy Ball, Sierra Rickman, Brittany Dye, and Rosemary Robinson; several additional nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all his nurses, especially, Tiffany Wilson and Benita Helmes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins, Rev. Daniel Richardson, Rev. Steve Ray, and Bro. Chad Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Christian Ball, Chadrick Ball, Jim Rickman, Josh Waldron, Jerry Meadows, Donnie Hess, Bernie Dye, Randall Rife, and Tyler Perkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Dye, William Harrison, Frank Dye, J.J. Price, Cecil Dye, and Chester Ball.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Bro. Chad Ball and Rev. Junior Ray officiating.
