Mr. Richard Lee Johnson, age 50 of the Red Root Ridge section of Raven, Virginia, passed away Monday (December 14, 2020). Born October 4, 1970 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a son of Corbet Dennis Johnson, Sr. of Raven and the late Peggy Darlene Smith Johnson. A 1988 graduate of Richlands High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army and had formerly been employed as a cable technician for many years. He was a member of Bee Branch Primitive Baptist Church and attended Macedonia Primitive Baptist. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Kaiden Brinn, and brother-in-law, Jeffery Vandyke.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Linda Johnson of the home; one daughter, Brianna Danielle Johnson of Lenoir, North Carolina; step-son, Jamie Sisk and wife, Natasha of Richlands; two step-grandchildren, Aiden Sisk and Nash Sisk; siblings, Vickie Dye of Richlands, and Corbet Johnson, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, and Marlena VanDyke all of Raven; special nieces and nephews, Tara, Austin, Megan, Kali, Joe, and Brandon; several additional nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Elder Elza Mullins, Elder Kenneth Mullins, and Elder F.R. Beavers officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery at Raven, Virginia. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
Pallbearers will be Cody Kennedy, Greg Poe, Casey Daughtery, Billy Ball, Melvin Proffitt, and Danny Lee Proffitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Bandy, Jay Griffith, and Rocky Smith.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home Saturday from 10 – 11 AM.
