Obituary for Robert Hughes Robinson

Rev. Robert Hughes Robinson, age 59, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Sunday (January 12, 2020) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born January 22, 1960 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Vivian Whited Robinson Ray of Swords Creek and the late Robert Andrew Robinson. He had lived most his life in the area and was a 1978 graduate of Honaker High School. A devoted man of God, he was pastor of Worship Center for sixteen years. He had worked in the coal industry for forty years, being employed as an underground mine foreman with United Coal Company at his retirement. He enjoyed attending church and working on vehicles, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Sue Robinson.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife , Reba Karen Ray Robinson of the home; two children, Emerald Davis and husband, Garrick and Jekeyma Robinson; one grandson, Asher Davis; five siblings, Tammy Plaster and husband, Larry, Andrew Robinson and wife, Wanda Kay, Rosemary Robinson, John David Robinson, and James Robinson; step-father, Steve Ray; niece and nephew, whom were like his children, Emma Ray and Cody Ray.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Della Miller and Rev. David Perkins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Ray Cemetery in Swords Creek, Virginia with Rev. Tommy Dye officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Miller, Rodney Miller, Mike Miller, Cody Ray, Scott Bowman, Adam Burke, Aaron Burke, Kim Ray, Braydon Plaster, and Chase Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Rickman, Larry Rickman, and the men of the Worship Center under his pastorship.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the church of your choice.
