Mr. Robert Lee Taylor, age 54, of the Chestnut Ridge section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (May 18, 2020) at his home. Born August 24, 1965 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert Gene Taylor and Dorothy Virginia Taylor King. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1984 graduate of Honaker High School. He enjoyed Nascar and was Dale Earnhardt’s biggest fan, but his greatest enjoyment was his pride and joy, Chevy Lee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Vergie Taylor, maternal grandparents, Treva and George Perry Taylor, Sr. and a brother at heart, Roger Thompson.
Survivors include his son, Chevy Lee Taylor; his fiancée, Tabitha Smith; his caretaker, Mahala Ball; brother, Dustin J. King; sister, Sandra King; uncle, Homer Taylor; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Burke Hess and Rev. Guy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Cemetery on Chestnut Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Ervan Ball, Greg Street, Greg Shepard, Harm Howard, Timmy Taylor, and Homer Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Ramsey, Travis Ramsey, Dakota Yates, Frankie Ball, and Joseph Yates.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.

What memories I could share....Robert Lee winning that football has to be a classic. The time Mutt and I scared him in shop class by dropping a glass coke bottle on the floor, gym steps aggravating each other, and of course the nickname "Bonehead." Wonder where that came from? Prayers for the family and see you again some day Robert Lee. RIP

I remember when Robert Lee was little, he would usually have a cast on from his waist down and he would have a bar between his legs. We would grab that bar and hoist him into a wagon and take off. I am surprised he survived childhood with us as play mates. Very good memories.
