Mr. Robert Lee Taylor, age 54, of the Chestnut Ridge section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (May 18, 2020) at his home. Born August 24, 1965 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert Gene Taylor and Dorothy Virginia Taylor King. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1984 graduate of Honaker High School. He enjoyed Nascar and was Dale Earnhardt’s biggest fan, but his greatest enjoyment was his pride and joy, Chevy Lee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Vergie Taylor, maternal grandparents, Treva and George Perry Taylor, Sr. and a brother at heart, Roger Thompson.
Survivors include his son, Chevy Lee Taylor; his fiancée, Tabitha Smith; his caretaker, Mahala Ball; brother, Dustin J. King; sister, Sandra King; uncle, Homer Taylor; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Burke Hess and Rev. Guy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Cemetery on Chestnut Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Ervan Ball, Greg Street, Greg Shepard, Harm Howard, Timmy Taylor, and Homer Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Ramsey, Travis Ramsey, Dakota Yates, Frankie Ball, and Joseph Yates.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
