Obituary for Ruby Carol Dye (Hess)

Ruby Carol Hess Dye, age 74, went home to Heaven on Friday (January 7, 2022) at her home. Born July 17, 1947 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late William Hobert and Octivia “Tiny” Hess. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Word of Victory Fellowship at Elk Garden, Virginia. Her grandchildren were her life and she loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Limuel Dye on December 10, 2021; four sisters, Nora Mae Dye, Annie Hess, Peggy Perkins and Jeraline Hess; four brothers, Harold Hess, Bobby Hess, Jimmy Hess and Winston Hess.
Survivors include two children, Sheila Carol Dye Elkins and Limuel Keith Dye and wife, Kimberly of both of Lynn Springs, Virginia; three grandchildren, Channing Elkins and wife, Amanda, Jared Dye and wife, Celina and Kanisha Dye; three great-grandchildren, Ebany Diamond Dye, Sawyer Reid Elkins and Grayden Hayes Elkins; three sisters, Shirley Hess, Sue Hess and Shelby Lowe; one brother, Billy Hess ; special niece she thought of as a daughter, Carolyn Saunders; special best friend and grandson at heart, Gavyn Helton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rod Wicker officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday in the Leonard Dye Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia. Interment will follow. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 PM to travel in the funeral procession.
Pallbearers will be Channing Elkins, Jared Dye, Rafty Dye, Gary Sparks, Larry Sparks, Jeff Dye, Ethan Dye and Ronnie Hall.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Wednesday.
Due to the recent surge in COVID cases in our area, it is requested everyone in attendance to wear a mask.
