Mr. Sammie Dale Curtis, age 72, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away Monday (December 20, 2021) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born July 14, 1949 in Flatrock, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Sam M. Eaton and Dorothy Ellen Davis Fields. She was a 1967 graduate of Honaker High School and had earned an Associate’s Degree from Southwest Virginia Community College. She had formerly been employed at Johnston Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and going out to eat with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of thirty years, Carl Curtis of the home; two children, Sheila Taylor of Abingdon and Tonya Smith of Damascus; special friend, Gail Compton; seven grandchildren, Amber Blevins, Taylor Worley, Mark Munn, Gunner Worley, Ashley Munn, Maddie Curtis, and Aubrey Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Paxton, Zander, and Kalem; special friend, Gail Compton.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Abingdon, Virginia with Rev. Roby Coggins officiating. Entombment followed.
