Obituary for Sharon Kay Perkins (Martin)

Sharon Perkins, age 66, of the Call Valley section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Monday (January 25, 2021) in a Grundy, Virginia hospital. Born March 26, 1954 on Stinson Ridge in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Estil Lee and Verdie Mae Coleman Martin. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1971 graduate of Council High School and attended Southwest Virginia Community College. She had been employed as a clerk/bookkeeper, but her greatest and most rewarding job was being a mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jorold Perkins and one son, William Ashby Perkins.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron Perkins and wife, Seretta of Honaker, Virginia and Daniel Perkins and fiancée, Shonna Horn of Swords Creek, Virginia; sister, Patsy Martin and husband, Bob of Swords Creek, Virginia; brother, Michael Martin and wife, Alice of Honaker, Virginia; four grandchildren, Lucas Perkins, Catherine Perkins, Jaclyn Perkins and Seretta Hunt; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Heritage Hall of Grundy for the wonderful care they provided for Sharon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Hess officiating. She will be going back home to the mountain to be interred in the Martin Family Cemetery on Stinson Ridge.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home from Noon until 2 PM Friday.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
