Obituary for Shirley Pauline Blankenship (Stiltner)

Mrs. Shirley Blankenship, age 84, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (January 13, 2022) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born February 28, 1937 in Hamlin, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Molly Belle Wilson Stiltner. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Holiness faith. Shirley had a one-of-kind personality and enjoyed going to the lake, crocheting, reading, and yardselling, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Richard “Slim” Blankenship, children, Michael Blankenship, Tina Sisk, and Jody Sisk, four brothers, and four sisters.
Survivors include three children, Patty Dial of Gloucester, Keith Harlan Blankenship and wife, Rita of Rowe, and Rita Musick of Honaker; grandchildren, Brad Dial, Tracy Musick, Danny Musick, Jonathan Musick, Joshua Musick, William Dial, Heather Coleman, and Megan Cook; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Boyd and husband, Richard and Jeanette Coleman and husband, Don; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Stiltner and Ollie Lester; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nurse, Emily Reynolds and the staff of Redbud Family Medicine.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Michael Justice, Rev. Tommy Dye, and Rev. Scotty Maxfield officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Edwards, David Bostic and Willis Rowe.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2PM Tuesday at the Honaker Funeral Home.
