Mrs. Shirley Arbutus Helton Jackson, age 84, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Saturday (June 27, 2020) in Lebanon, Virginia. Born July 29, 1935 in Rowe, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Seaton G. and Ocie Wells Helton. She had spent most of her life in the area and was of the Baptist faith. She was a people person, enjoying talking and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Jackson, one son, Garry Jackson, two brothers, Eugene Helton and Helmer Helton, and four sisters, Helen Smith, Macie Proffitt, Eleanor Clark, and Dixie Osborne. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Jackson of Honaker and Barry Jackson and Jokema Southern of Doran; three grandchildren, Brian Jackson, Garry Jackson, and Alyssa Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Whitney Jackson and Molly Jackson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
