Obituary for Stella Mae Caperton (Ratliff)

Stella Mae Caperton, age 69, of the Fletcher Hollow Road section of Vansant, Virginia, passed away Thursday (April 2, 2020) at her home. Born July 30, 1950 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Edith Lester Ratliff. A lifelong resident of the Buchanan County area, she had volunteered at Feed My Sheep Food Pantry in Russell Prater for many years. She enjoyed gardening and farming, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Hattie Lowe and brother, Clyde Ratliff.
Survivors include seven children, Liz Stiltner and husband, Charlie of Grundy, Dollie Boyd of Haysi, Jason Caperton of Council, Necole Bowman of Council, and Dedra Caperton and Clark Tiller of Council, Richie Bowman and wife, Sandra of Tazewell, and Susan Bowman of Vansant; longtime companion of thirty-three years, Roby Bowman; ten grandchildren, Danyell Tisserat and husband, Trevor, Jacob Stiltner and wife, Amber, Joshua Boyd, Dakota Vandyke, Maelee Deel, Devin Duty and wife, Mariah, Ceniabelle Duty, Lyrissia Duty, Matthew Irick, and Katie Cornwell; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Pyper, and Ian Stiltner, Paisley Boyd, and Wyatt Tisserat; three brothers, Jerrell Ratliff, Everett Ratliff, and Ronnie Ratliff; one sister, Dean Coleman; special friend, Sue Blankenship; special nephew, Marty Ratliff; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In consideration of health and well-being of others, services will be a private family gathering with Bro. Charles Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Caperton-Bowman Cemetery near the home on Fletcher Hollow Road in Vansant, Virginia.
Nephews, grandsons, and Emory Ratliff will serve as pallbearers.
