Obituary for Steve Ratliff

Steve Ratliff, age 59, of Grundy, Virginia passed away Thursday (March 17, 2022) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born June 1, 1962 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elmer and Ruth McClanahan Ratliff. A lifelong resident of the area, he had been employed as a security guard for many years and did detail and paint work at Ramey’s and Curt’s Automotive Body Shop. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to make guns and gun racks out of wood. He also enjoyed assembling model cars, hunting and fishing and loved old red trucks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, Ilene and Kyle Ward and Imogene and Floyd Church, whom he thought of as second parents and his best friend, Daniel Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri Deel Ratliff of the home; two daughters, Chantay Lester and husband, Red of Grundy, Virginia and Kayla Ratliff and fiancé, Virgil Ellison of Princeton, West Virginia; step-son, David Smith of Rowe, Virginia; grandchildren, Little V Ellison and Adrian Ellison; mother-in-law, Alice Deel of Dry Fork, Virginia; sisters-at-heart, Becky Ward and Lisa Ward; granddaughter-at-heart, Anna Daniels; best friend, Wanda Ratliff; fur babies, Angel, Mercedes and Ranger; fur grandbabies, Scooby Lester, Daphne Lester and Bella Ratliff and several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at Rowe Pentecostal Church in Rowe, Virginia with Mike Rife officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Crosby, William “Red” Lester, Steven Justus, Gary Easter, Eric Stiltner, Doug Mullins and Bobby Mullins.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at Rowe Pentecostal Church, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Brad Cook officiating.
