Obituary for Tammy Mitchell

Tammy Mitchell, age 65, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Thursday (September 29, 2022) at her home.  Born August 29, 1957 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, she was a daughter of Gay Nell Ferguson Mitchell of Lebanon and the late Harold B Mitchell.  She had spent most of her life in the area, and was a graduate of Lebanon High School. She was a lifetime member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She worked as a hotel manager for many years, and although it was her source of employment, she viewed it as more of a ministry, allowing her the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of others and gain friendships that lasted well beyond a simple hotel stay. Aside from the joy her role as hotel manager provided, she achieved her greatest joy by being Yaya to her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Monk and husband, Travis of Lebanon, Virginia and Tabitha Perkins Hess and husband, Coty of Council, Virginia; four grandchildren, Grayson Monk, Kyler Monk, Jacob Hess and Isaac Hess; one brother, Mark Mitchell and wife, Janet of Lebanon, Virginia; nephews and niece, Mason Mitchell, Dillon Breeding, Alexa Breeding and Derek Mitchell; great-niece, Ava Campbell.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Paul Richards and his team at Lewis Gale Oncology and the staff of Legacy Hospice for the wonderful care they provided and all the friends who showed love, support and encouragement to Tammy through the course of her battle.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 4:30 PM Sunday (October 9, 2022) at Cedar Pointe Church in Lebanon, Virginia with Rev. Darrell Naff and Rev. James Nunley officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 PM until 4:30 PM.
