Mr. Thomas Lynn Dye, age 78, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (February 10, 2023) at his home. Born August 11, 1944 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Mary Robinson Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1962 graduate of Honaker High School and went on to further his education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and History and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from East Tennessee State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. He had been employed in education for twenty-eight years, retiring from Buchanan County School System in 2000. He was a faithful supporter of Honaker High School Athletics and Academics, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed reading and traveling, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Dye.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Yvonne Dye of the home; one daughter, Vanessa Branson and husband, David of Honaker; one granddaughter, Morgan Hubbard and husband, Channing of Lebanon; special grandchildren-at-heart, Katey Morrell, Shane Taylor, Blair Taylor, Taylor Richardson, Brody Smith, and Oakley Smith.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Monday from 6 – 7 PM.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating.
