Obituary for Tony Ray Austin
Mr. Tony Ray Austin of Drill, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (May 12, 2020) in a Kingsport, Tennessee hospital. Born April 17, 1967 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Billy Ray and Bonnie Sue Harris Austin of Drill. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1984 graduate of Council High School. He owned and operated Austin Roofing and had been in the roofing business since 1985.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Priscilla Ann Austin, his maternal grandparents, Virgie “Lulie” Terry and Jay Miles Harris, and paternal grandparents, Robert E. and Myrtle Austin.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his two children, McKensey Austin and Priscilla Austin both of Drill; the mother of his children, Vanessa Austin; four step-children, Tina Coxton, Audrey Coxton, Buck Coxton, and Lee Coxton all of Honaker; special friend, Mitch Fuller and thirteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Chester Ball and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Austin Cemetery at Venia, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Bryant Compton, Blake Baldwin, Payton Baldwin, Caden Baldwin, Nick Clevinger, Christopher Shortt, Daniel Baldwin, and Lee Coxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Coxton, Lewis Maxfield, Mike Penley, and Lonnie Harris.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening service will be conducted with Rev. Stephen Damron officiating.
