Obituary for Visie Shrader (Taylor)

Visie Taylor Shrader, age 97, of Alexandria, Virginia, peacefully answered the soft voice of Jesus on Thursday (May 27, 2021) at Mount Vernon Rehabilitation Center in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born on November 11, 1923 to the late Nathan and Anna C. Taylor. She was educated in the public schools of Honaker, Virginia. She was married to the late Paul Jackson Shrader and to that union four children were born. She later moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where she raised her children and worked custodial work until she retired. She accepted Christ at an early age in Honaker, Virginia and later joined the Reality Gospel Church of Springfield, Virginia, where she served until she took ill. Two of Visie’s favorite things to do were thrifting and gardening with her sister, Gladys. She mastered both of those hobbies. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. Although she has been called from above to receive her great reward, those she left behind will hold her fondly in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jackson Shrader, five brothers, Deward Taylor, Carl Taylor, Cecil Taylor, Clyde Taylor and Garland Taylor and one sister, Flosie Hess.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, four loving and devoted children, Connie Shrader (Larry) Pulliam, Donald Lee Shrader, James Michael (Sharon) Shrader and Pamela Gayle Shrader of Alexandria, Virginia; three sisters, Bessie Kirk, Gladys Hess, Tina Lockhart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service for Visie Shrader will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday (June 5, 2021) at Honaker Funeral Home in Honaker, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins and Rev. Lenora Vanover officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers and flower bearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 9 PM Friday at Honaker Funeral Home, where a song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
