Mr. Wilson DL Blankenship, age 78, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born May 3, 1944 in West Virginia, he was a son of Wallace Blankenship and Ada Pennington.
Mr. Blankenship attended Charity Hill Baptist Church and was a retired deputy with the Buchanan County, VA Sheriff’s Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Phelps and Marie Greer.
Survivors include: his daughters, Deborah Casstevens of Elkin, Brenda Wilcox and her husband Billy of Elkin; sister, Mildred Fredrick of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Kayla Wilcox and Austin Wilcox.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Yadkin Valley Home Health; and his church family at Charity Hill Baptist Church for their support and care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Terry Keen officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wilcox, Austin Wilcox, Larry Dotson, and Travis Dotson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 – 1 PM at the Honaker Funeral Home.
