Yvonne Evelyn “Evie” Lockhart Perkins, age 85, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Monday (May 29, 2023) at Heritage Hall of Tazewell, Virginia. Born November 24, 1937 in Swords Creek, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Naoma Perkins Lockhart. She was a 1955 graduate of Honaker High School. A devoted Christian, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized as a young woman. After retiring from several different jobs, she volunteered at Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Richlands, for over seventeen years, where she loved serving her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Nellie Miller, Gladys Hubbard, Thelma Miller, Freda Cordle and Arbutus Plaster; three brothers, Lee Lockhart, Dee Lockhart and Dallas Lockhart.
Survivors include one son, David Perkins and companion, Ellen Hess of Swords Creek, Virginia; sister, Mae Richardson of Honaker, Virginia; brother, Carter Lockhart and wife, Lita of Swords Creek, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Lois Lockhart and Margaret Peck; one grandson, Brandon Hale; special niece, Connie Robinson and husband, Robbie, who took such wonderful care of her; several additional nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caregiver, Gail Breeding, Heritage Hall of Tazewell, where she spent the last four weeks of her life, and Legacy Hospice of Richlands for the care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Yul Miller and Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 – 2 PM at the Honaker Funeral Home.
